The Central Library at CFTRI made a small beginning in 1950 and in order to meet the emerging needs, a well organised information system devoted completely to Food Science and Technology was conceived on a small scale as early as 1966 which later came to be known as Food Science and Technology Information Service (FOSTIS). The Library provides its services to scientists, researchers, staff, students, resource centres and retired staff of institute, faculty of universities, staff of industries and research fellows on conditional membership to utilize its services.
